After a month-long public consultation period, the Trustees have now signed-off a new sustainability policy, cementing Ilkley Manor House Trust’s social and environmental values. Embedded at the heart of the policy is an action plan going forward, using Bioregional’s One Planet Living® framework, that will ensure Ilkley Manor House has an official commitment to the health and happiness of the planet and its occupants, as well as its lovely visitors!
As a result of the public consultation, which was supportive and encouraging, the draft policy has been updated to incorporate various suggestions, including the use of water butts, amending the words fair trade to the internationally-recognised concept ‘Fairtrade’, and exploring the possibility of offering employees ‘Real Living Wage’ (as a base salary). You can view the full outcome of the public consultation here.
Various proposals have been taken on board by the Trustees and are to be included in an annual review of the policy, including ways in which Ilkley Manor House Trust could respond to the Climate and Ecological Emergency (CEE).
We are therefore delighted to be able to launch our new One Planet Living Sustainability Policy and look forward to a happier and more sustainable future.
