50 Years of the Dales Way with Colin Speakman

The 81 mile Dales Way is a long distance walk from Ilkley through the Yorkshire Dales National Park to Bowness-on-Windermere, in the Lake District.

Over the last 50 years, this mainly riverside walk has given inspiration and pleasure and many thousands of people from Britain and all over the world, becoming one of England’s most popular long distance walks.

Local author Colin Speakman, one of the co-founders of the Dales Way, describes how the Ramblers had a vision to connect West Yorkshire and the Lake District through some of England’s finest countryside and how this vision became a reality.

Tickets cost £8 and include complimentary refreshments.
