AD HOC BAROQUE present “Christmas with Mr Pepys”
The famous diarist shares his recollections of Christmas and music with readings from his diaries interspersed with music by his contemporaries.
Samuel Pepys1633-1703 is arguably the best-known diarist of the 17th century. His recorded observations of the society in which he lived give an unparalleled picture of political and social life in London and the minutiae of his own domestic life. He is a great enthusiast for music – both as a performer and critic and much of his social life is based around his musical activity. The music in the programme reflects the repertoire that would have been familiar to Pepys and his circle.
Concert is 4.00-5.00 pm with a mulled wine and mince pie post concert reception ending at 6.00pm.
