26th Jul 2024 10:15 am - 12:00 pm
Join Stephanie Davies, Assistant Curator at Lotherton Hall, on 26 July to learn about the homes of the Gascoigne family.
The Gascoignes were a prominent medieval family who lived at Lotherton Hall from 1825 for over 100 years. Stephanie will examine the family connections across homes in England, Ireland, and Scotland. She will include some oral histories of staff and friends of the Gascoigne family of Lotherton Hall, to give us a peek into what life was like in these grand houses. We will learn how the family used their wealth to benefit and support communities and how they connected people from their different estates through work, music, art and sport.
Tickets to attend the talk in person are £3 and may be purchased online through Eventbrite (a booking fee is payable), or in person through the Box Office when the House opens on weekends.
Tickets may be available on the door but will be subject to availability, and we cannot guarantee admission. If you cannot attend the talk in person, you can watch it later on YouTube.
Arrive at Ilkley Manor House at 10:15am to have time to get a hot drink and biscuit. The talk will start at 10:30am, lasting roughly an hour with time for questions at the end.
