25th Jun 2021 10:30 am - 11:30 am
Melanie Shearn is a storytelling artist based in Ilkley but who works with artists across the world. The lockdowns created a space for Melanie to explore two inter-connected creative projects in 2020 and 2021, the latter one being Musiamo Cent. Musiamo means Museum (in Sotho) and Cent means 100 (in many languages). Musiamo Cent includes creative collaborations with artist communities such as the Society of Letters and the International Union of Mail-Artists. The resulting works led to Melanie’s museum ‘catalogue’ of 100 artefacts as well as her Ilkley Lockdown Quilt square.
The talk will be a fascinating journey exploring the creative processes that inspire Melanie’s work.
You will be sent a link to the Zoom meeting and the password prior to the talk – this is usually sent 24 hours before the talk and then again a couple of hours before the talk.
Please ensure you log on in good time to ensure you don’t miss the start of the talk. The waiting room will open approximately 30 minutes before the talk starts at 10.30am.
