EXHIBITION: Yorkshire Doors Rag Rug

24th Feb 2024 - 25th Feb 2024
11:00 am - 4:00 pm

An exhibition of contemporary textiles by West Riding Ruggers.

‘Doors of Yorkshire’ is a set of 15 hooked panels inspired by and depicting doors from around the Yorkshire district, including the distinctive Ilkley Manor House door. They have been created by members of the West Riding Ruggers using traditional rag-rugging skills and recycled textiles.

The group use prodding and hooking techniques, handed down through generations, to make rugs, wall-hangings, and everyday items, some of which are included along with the doors in the exhibition. Come along to meet members of the group, find out how these beautiful rugs and other items are made, handle some of the works and vote for your favourite door to win a rag-rug starter kit.
