Darkroom Photography with Plant-Based Processes
Step into a caravan-turned-camera and see photography from the inside out!
Delivered by Photo Hub North in collaboration with Ilkley Manor House and photoILKLEY, this hands-on workshop invites you to meet “Nellie” — a lovingly repurposed caravan that doubles as a working camera obscura, eco-friendly darkroom and creative classroom on wheels.
In this unique 90-minute workshop held in the Manor House courtyard, you’ll discover how a camera actually works, experience the world upside down inside the camera obscura, and have the chance to create a portrait using plant-based darkroom techniques that are gentle on the environment. There are four sessions to choose from over two days.
This is a rare opportunity to learn about photography through hands-on experimentation, combining traditional techniques with sustainable practices.
Suitable for all ages (under 18s must be accompanied by an adult)
