LOAN BOXES: ROMANS

This teaching resource can be split across multiple lessons. Classroom activities and local sites to visit have been included.

The teaching pack structure includes:

• Introduction to Archaeology
• The Roman Period (43 – 410 AD), with particular focus on the South Pennines.

The Roman artefact box contains:

• Roman-style clay pot
• A Roman toiletries set including: nail cleaner, ear scoop, tweezers
• A strigil (a tool important for Roman bathing)
• A wax tablet and stylus for writing
• Roman oil lamp
