EXHIBITION: The Ben Rhydding Hydro

25th May 2024 - 7th Jul 2024
11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Discover the fascinating history of the Ben Rhydding Hydro through old photographs.

Originally opened as the Wharfedale Hydropathic Establishment and Ben Rhydding Hotel in 1844, the Ben Rhydding Hydro had a diverse history. By 1909, it boasted a nine-hole golf course and, after World War I, rebranded as the Ben Rhydding Golf Hotel. During World War II, the government requisitioned the building for the Wool Control Board’s offices. Although released in 1948, it was never reinstated as a hotel and eventually stood empty before its demolition in 1955.
Find out about this first purpose-built hydropathic hotel in England and dive into the world of water treatments offered to clients.
